Becky’s introduction to the world of hospitality was in 1996 as a food server where she immediately realized that this was an industry she wanted to stay in. Within two years she took a full-time job at the Santa Barbara Restaurant Company as part of their opening team for three locations where her responsibilities ranged from hiring and training front of the house staff to accounting and managing the restaurant. In 2001, she briefly left the industry for a position at a district office of Hensel Phelps Construction Co. assisting estimators, however within a year she found herself planning and coordinating district golf tournaments, awards dinners, and client appreciation events.
In 2007 she was able to utilize the skills and experience she gained from both construction and the hospitality industry during the early stages of the San Jose McEnery Convention Center’s renovation and expansion as well as the Civic Auditorium renovation. In 2011 she became part of the Team San Jose sales team responsible for the planning and execution of approximately 50 events year-round ranging from trade shows and sales missions to FAM trips and various in-market events.
In 2017, she received her CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) designation and is currently a member of the Events Industry Council and Meeting Professionals International- NorCal Chapter.
Becky recently added the HOST volunteer program, temp staffing, and convention center concierge departments to her job responsibilities.
